As of recent months, only eight oilfields in the Kurdistan Region have remained operational. The following data reflects May production figures, which may have slightly increased since, though total output has consistently averaged around 300,000 barrels per day.

Over the past two days, a series of drone strikes have targeted several of these oilfields:

– Khurmala, the largest oilfield by output, was hit by two drones. The damage was minimal, affecting only a water pipeline within the field’s infrastructure. This field, operated by KAR Group, currently produces an estimated 90,000 barrels per day.

– Sarsang, located in the Amedi district, was struck by a drone yesterday. The attack caused serious damage to its oil storage facilities. Operated by HKN Energy, Sarsang currently produces around 30,000 barrels per day.

– Tawke and Fishkhabour, both located in Zakho district and operated by DNO under the Tawke license area, were targeted today. Although technically separate, the fields are geographically close and part of the same contract zone. Their combined output is 82,000 barrels per day. The drone strikes inflicted significant infrastructure damage at both sites.

– Ain Sifni, in the Sheikhan district, was also targeted. Although currently non-operational, the field is under contract with Hunt Oil.

While not directly attacked, Gulf Keystone announced a temporary suspension of operations at the Sheikhan oilfield due to security concerns. This decision followed the nearby attack on Ain Sifni, with Sarsang—also in close proximity—having been struck the day before.

In total, the targeted oilfields—excluding Sheikhan, where production was halted preemptively—account for approximately 70% of the Kurdistan Region’s current oil output.
