While none of the revenues go to the KRG treasury, this has become a significant point of contention, particularly because none of the funds are transferred to the Iraqi government as required by the budget law. The KRG claims that 45% of the revenue is allocated to production costs paid to foreign oil companies, but the fate of the remaining 55% remains unclear.
There are currently at least ten oilfields producing oil in the Kurdistan Region, with their combined daily output estimated to average as follows
